Japanese Interior Decoration

By Find Tips at 2009-05-01 05:29:47
Japanese interior design involves an uncluttered clean look, which is why many Japanese homes seem empty compared to western homes. A Japanese home uses plenty of natural materials in its construction. Japanese Interior Design is all about the building and not about adding items to a room. It is all about minimization.

There are several different themes that you can base your interior decorating style on. With the wide variety of options available, you can choose the one that attracts you the most. There is the Japanese look that uses calm colors to depict the serenity of Buddhist philosophy. The Indian and Chinese styles tend to be bold and beautiful, using colorful fabrics of upholstery as well as out-of-the box items like saris for home decor. This will also be the best opportunity for you to display the several pieces of souvenirs that you would have collected if you love traveling and have visited these places.

The Japanese room is famous for its clean lines and uncluttered appearance. While there is furniture in a Japanese room, you will not find very many pieces. The colors of Japanese interior design are subdued, giving preference for soft colors that are quietly restrained. These colors are taken from neutral palettes, incorporating grays, beiges, browns and off-whites. Japanese color schemes are mainly monochromatic and lend themselves to dark hardwoods, polished concrete, bamboo or stones and pebbles.

If you want to get the full effect of Japanese décor, you will not want to miss out on placing of woven straw mats on the floor. Back in Japan, these mats are used for walking, sitting and even sleeping on, so they do have a few different purposes. They also add an authentic touch to your themed room.

In Asian decoration, mats are given utmost importance. The word mats gets into your mind the woven straw ones with coloured and cloth covered bordering.yes, I am talking about Goza mats. They serve the purpose of adding Asian touch to your interiors. They simply work best with their straw centre and cloth covered borders. They can be used for walking, sitting, sleeping etc...

Kelly Hoppen

The multi award winning interior designer, Kelly Hoppen, is recognized as a modern day trend setter in the world of interior design. Her style is renowned for its individuality, simplicity and excellence where she incorporates colours and shades inspired by nature to give a luxurious timeless and simplistic ambiance. She is also a respected author on the subject, successfully publishing several best selling books. Although her designs are varied and dynamic, she is perhaps most well known for the signature 'East Meets West' Style.

The stunning beauty of a Japanese home is partially due to its clean, uncluttered look. While Western homes tend to be filled with furniture, textiles, and ornate decoration, a Japanese home seems almost empty in comparison. Much of a Japanese home's beauty comes from it's timber frame carpentry and the natural materials used in construction. Japanese interior design, then, is not about "adding" extra items to the room. Instead, the goal is to minimize distractions and to allow the graceful beauty of the building, itself, to shine.
